THE BEET GOES ON! Can beets like a pro!

August 13 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
$2 – $5

The Summerland Community Centre continues to reach out to the larger community by holding various educational sessions along with its regular activities and special events.  Coming up shortly is repeat educational session on pickling beets.  The previous session was so successful that there has been demand for another!

The preparation – that is, cooking and peeling the beets – takes the most effort in preparation for canning them. However, Claire Botkin has effort-saving tricks up her sleeve and will show you some simple tricks on how to accomplish this to make the job much easier. And, while waiting for some cooking steps to be completed, you’ll also learn how to make delicious refrigerator-style mustard pickles that don’t need to be canned.

So, if you’ve ever wanted to pickle beets or wished that the job was easier, this Education session is definitely for you.

BONUS: everyone goes home with samples of each! Please make sure to pre‑register for purposes of providing seating, printouts, and number of samples.
